Histology Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Histology specialists consists of both Histology Technicians and Histologists. Histologists are often referred to as Histotechnologists. Histologic Technicians and Histologists prepare tissue samples and send them to Physicians where it is now determined if the patient has a disease, dysfunction, or malignancy.
The Histology field is a very interesting one indeed, They use high tech equipment to thinly slice a tissue and then put it under a microscope and use chemicals to make important structures visible. Histologists are said to perform more complex and advanced procedures then technologists. They also function as management.

Salary:
$22,000 - $35,000(History Technologists)
$30,000 - $50,000(Histologists)

Educational Requirements:
A Associates degree and at least a year of internship are required or a long term training program in a Histology lab. It is also required that you pass a national exam to become a Histologists Technicians.

Students must earn a bachelor’s degree and one year of a clinical internship. They must also pass a national exam to become a Histologists.
